Emulate Thai Boxers Call To Young Malaysian Boxers
BESUT, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysian youngsters keen on boxing have been advised to emulate their Thai counterparts if they want to excel in the sport in the international arena.
Thailand Boxing Development Technical Committee chairman Lt Adun Pasu alias Mohd Mokhtar said most Thai youngsters were willing to spend their own money for training compared to Malaysia where all the facilities were available.
"To do well, an individual has to immerse himself in the sport and train seriously because boxing is different from other sports as it needs physical and mental strength," he told Bernama here Tuesday.
Adun, who is the national boxing coach for Thailand and is currently developing his team for the Olympic Games, commended the Malaysian Amateur Boxing Association and the state boxing associations for their efforts to promote the sport.
He urged local youngsters to take the opportunity to catch him at the state boxing centre in Kota Putera here every Friday and Saturday where he is conducting training sponsored by the Terengganu Amateur Boxing Association and the State Sports Council to scout for new talents and athletes.
